Measuring layflat tubing
Layflat tubing is usually used for a square container.
- 1. Width (W) of the bag = width + depth of the container + 2" for a looser fit.
- 2. Length (L) of the bag = height of the container + half of the depth to the height. Add 5" for overhang.
Example: For a container 14" W x 10" D x 32" H, the bag should measure at least 26" W x 42" L.
Measuring gusseted bags
Gusseted bags are usually used as pallet covers.
Note: Depth (D) is the shorter of the 2 sides.
- 1. Width (W) of the cover = width of the pallet + 1-2"
- 2. Depth (D) of the cover = depth of the pallet + 1-2"
- 3. Length (L) of the cover = height of the pallet + half of the depth
Example: For a pallet 40" W x 36" D x 50" H, the cover should measure at least 42" W x 38" D x 68" L.
Measuring ziplock bags
A re-closable poly bag is manufactured with a slider zip closure.
- 1. Measure Length (L) from the bottom of the bag to the base of the re-closable seal.
- 2. Measure Width (W) of the bag from side to side.
- 3. For rigid items, add .5" to the Width (W) of the bag to allow the item to fit through the opening.
- 4. For thick or bulky items adjust dimensions accordingly.
- 5. Add 0.5" to 2" to both dimensions for a looser fit.
Example: For a flat product 3.5" W x 5.5" D, the bag should measure at least 4" W x 6" L.
Measuring slider polybags
Slider top poly bags provide a highly protective barrier against moisture and vapor.
- 1. Measure Length (L) from the bottom of the bag to the bottom of the slider closure.
- 2. Measure Width (W) of the bag from side to side.
- 3. For rigid items, add 1.5" to the Width (W) of the bag to allow the item to fit through the opening.
- 4. For thick or bulky items adjust dimensions accordingly.
- 5. Add 0.5" to 2" to both dimensions for a looser fit.
Example: For a flat product 2.5" wide by 5.5" deep, the bag should measure at least 4" W x 6" L.
